COUNT ME IN TO
END GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
Rates of gender-based violence have risen in Canada, with a woman or girl killed by violence every 48 hours.
Your generosity fuels programs that offer safety and support to survivors, and that prevent the cycle of
gender-based violence from taking root in future generations.
▶
Teen Healthy Relationship Programs enable young people of all genders to learn about dating
violence, sexual assault, and how to build safe, healthy, and equal relationships.
▶
Rebuilding Lives Programs help survivors find safe housing, sexual violence support, counselling,
legal support, and help children heal from witnessing violence.
“In one case, Dragonfly’s
counselling helped a
survivor deal with the
trauma of a violent crime,
re-establish her sense of
safety, and prepare to
testify in court while facing
her aggressor.
The counsellor and client went through a process
of reframing what had happened to her and
shifting the client’s view of herself from victim
to survivor. She has overcome her trauma and is
equipped with the skills to move forward with her
life in a positive way.”
– Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre
Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre’s community outreach activities include sessions to help children
learn about body safety and setting boundaries.
