Abdominal Wall Over Stretch: If my lumbar compresses and
shortens then my abdominal wall at the front of my body
must lengthen to allow this. Once more the problem is that
people already have too much length in their abdominals –
especially at the lower portion where they join the pelvis. So
as we keep stretching this area we take away the last vestiges of stability from people leaving their pelvis / lumbar area
increasingly unstable. As my pelvis dips downwards at the
front (anterior tilt) then my abs stretch to allow this, and the
stretch on my hip flexors – especially rectus femoris – decreases because it also attaches to my pelvis but from the
leg end. So it becomes an ab stretch instead of a hip flexor
stretch – and no one needs their abs stretching!
