You imagine, once again, that this is your fairy tale. You believe
wholeheartedly that wishing upon a white, fluffy dandelion puff,
riding in a pumpkin carriage, and hugging little girls in bright yellow Pooh dresses and little boys in Tigger t-shirts can miraculously
cure your friend in the red sweater from this horrific disease. You
hope that your friendship, as loyal as Eeyore’s, your empathy and
compassion can give her strength to climb out of her dark despair
and face the future with courage. That faith guarantees that all
wrongs can be made right with one prayer, one wish, one bear hug,
writing happy endings one at a time.
At least for one morning, on this Wednesday, that is as sacred and
prayerful as a Sunday, you can dream of giving these two families,
and ultimately yourself, this one answered prayer to treasure. If you
give it to them, you can make room for faith and hope in your heart.
