What is
Environmentally
Friendly Packaging?
Otherwise known as Eco-Friendly Packaging, this
is packaging that is safe for humans and the
environment.
How does packaging earn the coveted title of
Eco-Friendly?
The lifespan of packaging is so much more than
its 昀椀nal destination, so, to be truly environmentally
savvy, the production of Eco-Packaging starts with
raw materials, takes in the manufacturing process,
its purpose and whether it can be recycled, reused
or is biodegradable. In truth the whole supply
chain is affected.
Which packaging products affect the environment
the least?
Green packaging should cause the minimum
amount of damage to the environment, long after
its original use and the most common green
packaging products currently used are:
Paper
Cardboard
Glass
Plant Starch materials
Plastics (certain types)
Uncertainty can taint the move over to greener solutions, due to possible cost implications, with research
showing that brands that take on corporate responsibility for the planet, have in fact increased sales.
Thus, Eco-Friendly Packaging could boost sales, whilst setting an excellent example for other brands
waiting to make the leap.
