Recovery Ministry
Getting Real – Recovery on the Southside – The Recovery Ministry offers a safe, welcoming,
and confidential environment where people can get honest about the issues that are
interfering with their lives. We provide Christ-centered peer support groups that are similar
to the 12-step model of AA, and actively work to encourage spiritual development through
the practical application of Biblical principles and disciplines. Our members are pursuing
recovery from a variety of issues including but not limited to: alcoholism, drug addiction,
compulsive eating, compulsive spending and codependency.
Safety and Security Ministry
The ASBC Safety and Security Ministry is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure
environment for all worship services, ministry programs, activities and events held at and
by Alfred Street Baptist Church. This ministry’s mission is to develop security measures,
evacuation policies, procedures and training for all ASBC facilities and off-site facilities
where any ASBC ministries, programs, activities and events are held. The ministry trains
staff, church members, ministry leaders, volunteers and guests on how to implement these
policies during any emergency at ASBC.
Scholarship Committee
The committee gives scholarships to high school seniors who have been a member of ASBC
for a minimum of two years and have participated in youth activities on a regular basis
during the last two years of high school. The committee also assists undergraduate students
who are having financial difficulties.
Seasoned Saints - Seniors Ministry
The purpose of the Seniors Ministry is to identify and address the spiritual, educational,
personal, health, safety and social support needs of our senior members and to reach out to
seniors in the community and invite them to experience Christian fellowship at the Alfred
Street Baptist Church.
Senior Youth Higher Ground
The mission of the Senior Youth Higher Ground Ministry is to reach out to the youth
of the church and community to help bring them closer to Christ. Through outreach
programs, regular meetings, retreats, church services and other activities, the Youth
Department’s primary objectives are that each youth will: 1. accept Jesus Christ as Lord
and Savior; 2. commit to serving the Lord with his or her God-given talents; 3. grow
spiritually, socially, culturally and academically; and 4. gain greater self-esteem and
awareness of community needs.
