Dear Friends of Goodwill,
I tip my hat to the Goodwill Houston team that made 2023 a tremendous success. Because of your
efforts, thousands of people received job training, found new jobs and started down the path to a
beer life. Your dedication, compassion, and professionalism continues to help countless individuals
and families as you change lives through the power of work.
I would also like to thank the volunteers who serve on the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees,
Foundation Board, and the Business Advisory Council. Your dedication is exemplary and your
contributions are essential for our success. It is an honor and privilege to serve with you in support of
Goodwill Houston.
Sir Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” The first
Goodwill “giant” was Dr. Edgar J. Helms, who opened the world’s first Goodwill store at the beginning
of the 20th century in Boston, Massachuses. We at Goodwill Houston have the benefit of standing
on the shoulders of Helms and the succession of Goodwill “giants” that have followed over the last 120
years. I believe Helms would be pleased with what we have accomplished. On behalf of the Goodwill
family, thank you again for your support of this great organization.
