Improved on-farm ecosystem services creates
resilience
In previous chapters, we have described how agroforestry can contribute to improving several on-farm ecosystem services, such as changing the microclimate,
contributing to a more fertile soil, increasing soil
carbon storage, increasing biodiversity and reducing
soil erosion.
In the long term, improved ecosystem services also
provide societal economic benefits by reducing the
negative climate and environmental impact of agriculture. In Sweden there are currently no environmental

level [45]. However, there are organisations that offer
financial support to farmers who contribute to a better
environment by establishing agroforestry systems. At
the end of this chapter, some funding opportunities
are listed.
