2023 Donor Impact Report - Flipbook - Page 4
Chancellor’s Welcome
We all give for different reasons. And we
all know there is no shortage of good
causes worth giving to – perhaps now
more than ever. So, first and foremost,
I wish to thank you all, deeply, for the
wonderful generosity you have shown the
University of South Australia.
Along with those thanks, I would also like to remind
you of how much your gift means, and how far it will
extend.
In choosing to donate to UniSA, you have given the gift
of knowledge. Whether your contribution helps provide
a scholarship, supports life-changing research, or helps
deliver new innovations in teaching, through your
generosity, you have supported knowledge.
And the great beauty of the gift of knowledge is that
it never has just one recipient – knowledge is always
shared, amplified, built upon. However large or small
your initial contribution may be, it is one that will grow
– possibly beyond anyone’s wildest imagining. Your gift
is an investment in a better world.
The UniSA community now embraces more than
240,000 alumni, many of whom have been supported,
in a range of different ways, through the generosity of
our donors. These alumni are now spread across more
than 130 nations around the world, sharing, amplifying,
building upon the knowledge they gained through their
time at UniSA.

We are immensely proud of that global contribution,
and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution to
it. Without your generosity, many of our alumni may
never have had that chance to make such a difference,
and our researchers may not have made so many
significant discoveries.
In 2022, we welcomed 11 new inductees into UniSA’s
Chancellor’s Club, which recognises those who have
gifted between $50,000 and $100,000 to the
University, or bequeathed a gift to UniSA in their Will.
We also inducted one new member into the Hetzel
Group, which is for donors of gifts between $100,000
and $1 million.
This represents wonderful generosity, and it is one
of the deepest honours of my role as Chancellor to
formally recognise this contribution.
While recognising this, I also emphasise that we are
equally grateful for the generosity of all our supporters
– no matter the size of your donation, your generosity
makes a difference to so many lives in so many
different ways.
Thank you.
