Provincial Government Support:
To support the growth of the industry, the provincial
government has introduced tax incentives for developers
who build affordable housing, and has also made it easier
for developers to obtain necessary approvals and permits
for their projects. Additionally, the government has invested
in infrastructure development, including transportation and
telecommunications, to support the growth of communities
and create attractive investment opportunities. In an effort to
attract developers and address Ontario’s housing supply crisis,
the Premier has introduced a number of bills, including Bill
23. The legislation contains controversial elements, including
waiving or freezing development charges which are used to pay
for sewers, parks and community centres around new homes.
