Case study
Kevin
Kevin is a young man with a diagnosis of autism, ADHD
and complex PTSD. He was in and out of hospitals
throughout his teenage years and moved to a shared
supported living environment when he was 20. Kevin
found it difficult to work with mental health professionals
following discharge, due to his autism and past trauma
connected to hospital admissions. He has a history of
suicidal ideation and self harm. However, Kevin engaged
fully with the wellbeing outcomes work and emotional
support provided by staff in Active Prospects.
In 2023-2024 Kevin moved into his own flat with the
safety net of Just Roaming assistive tech, this gave him
independence and control over his environment. Kevin
now has a part time role with our wellbeing team, has
developed his passion for sports and nature, spending
time paddleboarding, canoeing and wild swimming. Kevin
has been able to get his provisional driving license and
is working towards his next goal of getting a motorbike.
Kevin has been out of hospital now for 5 years and has
recently achieved a year with no incidents of self harm.
