In past years wehave found that many of the people we support findit really difficult to identify or communicate abouttheir Spark.11% of incidents arose following frustration andstress when trying to develop or achieve in topics orareas people were passionate about. This was dueto a lack of qualifications or accessibility in gainingqualifications, a lack of work experience or accessibleopportunities to spend time doing the things theyloved. This led to feelings of despair and low selfesteem.Whilst impacting a small group of the Complex Carecohort, this is thought to be due to other people notidentifying or trying to develop their passions, ratherthan a small number being unsuccessful. Many ofthe people we support in this cohort have spenttheir teenage and young adult years in hospitalsettings, as a result they have limited education, lifeexperience, finances and confidence.1822% of people felt they had made significantprogress in the Spark domain during 2023-2024.These outcomes included gaining work experience,qualifications, new experiences or new opportunitiesto regularly practise or use their Spark.Active Prospects have been fortunate to receivea grant from Nationwide to further our wellbeingwork by directly funding opportunities for peopleto improve their wellbeing. This has enabled us tosupport some people with equipment, training, orregular opportunities in the Spark Domain. Examplesof these include:Purchasing a paddleboard and a waterways license tomake this accessible as much as the weather allows.Supporting one person to do an assistance dogtraining certificate.Purchasing a fitbit and gym membershipSupporting one person to start sports leadershipqualificationsSupporting someone to do a bushcraft weekendPurchasing a Royal Horticultural Association passPurchasing an annual swimming pass
