The opening of the new
homes in Horsham was
attended by John Milne,
MP for Horsham, who said:
Expanding our reach
Although Active Prospects’ roots and the majority of our homes are
in East Surrey, we have in recent years been growing our footprint
outside of Surrey. 2024 saw the opening of eight new homes in
Horsham and Brighton & Hove, bringing the number of homes
outside of Surrey to sixteen.
The Horsham and Brighton & Hove developments were made
possible by NHS Capital Grants and have been specifically designed
for people with complex needs who are moving from long stays in
hospital settings.
The UK faces a severe shortage of appropriate housing for people
with complex needs, often leaving people in long-term hospital
settings or unsuitable accommodation. For many, this has meant
never having a place to truly call home. We have been tackling this
issue by developing purpose-built homes that offer the dignity, care,
and support necessary for independent living. The new homes in
Horsham and Brighton & Hove are a testament to this commitment,
featuring bespoke designs and cutting-edge technology to enhance
residents’ safety and quality of life.
Over the last six years, Active Prospects has
enabled more than 50 people with complex
needs to move from hospital settings into
their own homes, with a 95% success rate in
the last year.
“
It’s inspiring to see the commitment
Active Prospects has made to support
people with complex needs right here
in Horsham. The new flats are not just
homes but will enable people to be
part of the Horsham community. It’s
great to see Active Prospects using new
technology like Just Roaming to help
people to live more independently but
with support available if they need it.”
“
We are delighted to open our first
homes in Horsham and Brighton &
Hove and are grateful for the support
we’ve received from NHS England and
both West Sussex County Council and
Brighton & Hove City Council to make
these ambitious developments happen.
The new flats will provide a supportive,
inclusive environment that meets the
complex needs of the people we support.
We aim to help individuals live as
independently as possible, with access to
both high-quality housing and innovative
support systems.”
