PLAN AND IMPLEMENT
Our GHG emissions reduction, in part, can be attributed to energy e昀케ciency initiatives, such as
an LED lighting project being implemented in 2023. Although we are proud to see reductions
in both our absolute and intensity GHG emissions metrics, we know we need to increase the
rate of our annual reduction to meet our goals.
In 2023, we developed an energy reduction and decarbonization plan. The initial steps of this plan
were to identify each of our facilities’ energy 昀氀ows and usage and then categorize opportunity
avenues for reduction. The three attention areas to accelerate progress are employee-led
behavior-based changes, facility energy management, and equipment upgrades.
In addition to what is listed to the right, to achieve our 2030 goal, Accupac has an active list
of continuous improvement projects with projected carbon and cost savings. Currently, the list
of eleven projects guides our energy reduction roadmap. A cross-functional task team meets
weekly to discuss energy saving projects and review suggestions from employees.
To encourage behavior-based change in energy use, we require employees to complete
sustainability training sessions. Some of the training sessions cover GHG emissions and
Accupac’s role in mitigating climate change. By educating our sta昀昀, we support our focus
areas and equip employees with the knowledge to align our collective actions as an
organization.
Our e昀昀orts to improve facility energy management prioritize measurement and veri昀椀cation
schemes, enhancing standard operating procedures for equipment usage and maintenance,
and engaging employees in their role in promoting energy e昀케ciency.
Equipment upgrades focus on ensuring that existing equipment is e昀케ciently meeting the
needs of the company and 昀椀nding suitable replacement equipment when needed. We
optimize lighting on the production 昀氀oors, including rightsizing lighting for our needs and
updating 昀椀xtures to high e昀케cacy options.
SUSTAINABILITY TRAINING PROGRAM
Accupac‘s Sustainability Training Program is designed to
educate employees on the core topics of sustainability
and empower employees to contribute to Accupac’s
sustainability initiatives. As part of the annual goalsetting process, each salaried employee set a goal to
complete the training program. The program includes
three parts: Foundations of Sustainability, Aligning to
Accupac’s 2030 Goals, and Integrating Sustainability into
Core Functions. The series culminates with individualized
goal setting for the 2025 calendar year.
In addition to goal setting and training, participants can
submit ideas to our digital Sustainability Suggestion Box.
The Sustainability Committee reviews all suggestions
and provides responses to all suggestions.
