The St Ivo Centre opened in 1974 funded by the old Town Council. The Impressions fitness studio was part of a major re-fit in
1999, achieved by converting 4 squash courts. Ian Cousins, the Centre manager, trained in hotel management at the University
Arms Hotel in Cambridge. In 1970 he came to St Ives as Catering Manager at the Golden Lion Hotel and joined the staff at the
St Ivo Outdoor Centre in 1976. He is pictured here with Michelle Weir and Barney Hilsden on some of the exercise machines.
Barney was educated at St Ivo School and Stoke University where he gained a BSc Hons degree in Exercise and Health. He
worked as a part-time lifeguard before being appointed full-time Fitness Consultant in 1999. Michelle went to Ramsey Abbey
School and Staffordshire University where she was awarded a BSc (Hons) degree in Exercise and Health. She was appointed
Fitness Manager in 1999.

The Club dates from the 1890s. Under the chairmanship of Neville
Nania it runs two senior teams, a youth team (under-18s) and a
colts team (under-9s). They can still pull a crowd of 400 for the big
games on their ground at Westwood Road.
Pictured here in 2000 (from the back left) are Warren Everdell
(manager), Ali Robinson (vice-chairman), Liam Kennet, Simon
Osbourne and Shane Gibbs (captain).
Warren has played for St Ives Town Football Club for 20 years,
appearing in some 700 games. After serving as the first team
manager he was the Club’s General Manager for two years. In
2001 he took his FA coaching badge before returning to captain
the side one more time for the 2001-2 season with plans to
develop a young squad for the future.
