A PAC to keep incumbent Mike Moran
It was a shock for District 1 residents to watch
their own County Commissioner, Mike Moran,
vote to put an industrial waste transfer facility
next to the Celery Fields. The Celery Fields is a
storm water wetlands restoration project that
yielded amazing environmental benefits. It has
essentially become a wildlife sanctuary, with
over 220 species of birds spotted there at
dierent times of the year. You’d think the
County Commissioner responsible to voters in
District 1 would have heard their cries to
protect it from industrial development. Not
Moran.
Rural residents in District 1 are also alarmed by
the encroachment of sprawl development on
their way of life. The County Commission has
not been receptive to their concerns, so these
residents of Old Miakka began a movement
called “Keep the Country Country”. Republican
