Brian Krauss
BASS
Brian Krauss holds a Master of Music degree in double
bass performance from the Cleveland Institute
of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree in music
performance and education from Ithaca College.
His principal teachers have been Max Dimoff and
Henry Neubert. He has also taken lessons with many
leading bassists including Eugene Levinson, Timothy
Cobb, Paul Ellison, Jeff Bradetich and Edgar Meyer.
Mr. Krauss currently holds positions as principal
bassist of both the York Symphony Orchestra (PA) &
Allegro Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster (PA).
He has also held positions as principal bass with
the Fayetteville Symphony (NC) and the Carolina
Philharmonic (NC) and section bass with the Ashlawn
Opera Orchestra (VA), the Binghamton Philharmonic (NY), Utica Symphony (NY),
Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (NY), Tri-Cities Opera (NY) and Mansfield Symphony
(OH). Other groups Mr. Krauss has performed with include the Virginia (VA),
Charleston (SC) and Lancaster (PA) symphonies, and the Erie Philharmonic (PA).
He also enjoys performing in jazz combos in the Harrisburg area. In his spare time
Mr. Krauss enjoys fishing and tending to his extensive bonsai tree collection. He
currently resides in Mount Joy, PA with his wife, violinist Amanda Krauss and their
children Sophia and Benjamin while teaching orchestra at Susquehanna Township
High School.
