TIACA Central Asia Event maps future
for Kazakhstan as Global Air Cargo Hub

he International Air
Cargo Association
(TIACA)’s inaugural
Central Asia event in
Astana brought together nearly
400 industry delegates to address
key issues impacting the regional
air cargo market and explore
strategies for developing Kazakhstan into a global hub. Discussions
covered e-commerce, multimodal
logistics, air cargo trends, innovation, digitalisation, sustainability,
and industry regulations.
The event commenced with
a high-level meeting featuring
Marat Karabayev, Minister of
Transport of Kazakhstan; Catalin Radu, Director General of
the Aviation Administration of

Kazakhstan; Nurzhan Malayev,
Director of Passenger and Cargo
Facilitation at Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK);
and Glyn Hughes and Steven
Polmans, Director General and
Chair of TIACA, respectively.
Topics included Kazakhstan’s
potential as a crucial hub for rail
and air links between China and
Europe, diversifying its economy
beyond extractive industries, and
enhancing border e昀케ciency to
support e-commerce growth.
Throughout the event, delegates witnessed the signing of
over ten MoUs aimed at promoting
and expanding the Kazakhstan
air cargo market. The two-day
programme included engaging
sessions, debates, and networking
opportunities, generously sponsored by the Ministry of Transport
and the Aviation Administration
of Kazakhstan.
