year.
Secondary Schools: Contracts will be offered to returning employees on or before April 1 of each
year.
Non-Contracted Employees
Only classroom teachers, principals and selected senior administrators at each school are offered
statements of compensation. All other individuals employed at the school are non-contract
employees who are also employed on an at-will basis. At-will employment means that either the
school or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without
cause. Upon initial employment, non-contract, at-will employees should be provided with a
statement of compensation identifying position, title, statement of exemption or non-exemption
from overtime compensation, hourly wages if applicable, and an estimated yearly salary.
Returning non-contracted employees should receive a copy of the next academic year’s statement
of compensation which should be signed by both the principal and the employee. However,
issuance of such statements of compensation are not intended to create a contract of employment
and all employment continues to be on an at-will basis.
4020: FACULTY/STAFF SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY
This policy establishes the Office of Catholic Schools’ (“OCS”) position on the use or abuse of
alcohol, drugs or other controlled substances by its faculty, staff and administration, cumulatively
referred to as its employees. It is a part of the Archdiocese’s commitment to safeguarding the
health of its students, to providing a safe place for its students to learn and grow and to providing
a safe place for all employees to work. Because substance abuse, either while at school or away
from school, can seriously endanger the health and safety of all concerned and render it impossible
to create a conducive environment for learning, the OCS has established this Drug-Free School
Program to detect users and remove abusers of alcohol, drugs or other controlled substances. The
Office of Catholic Schools is committed to preventing the use and/or presence of these substances
in its schools.
This Substance Abuse Policy will be mandatory for the 2017-2018 school year and each school year
thereafter. New faculty and staff employment contracts/letters of agreement will be amended and
revised for the 2017-2018 school year to reflect each individual’s acceptance of the Office of
Catholic Schools’ Substance Abuse Policy. Failure to accept the terms and conditions of the OCS’
