The 2017 illegal PAC donation by Martin Hyde
to Making a Better Tomorrow resulted in $1500
fine for Hyde, a $2000 fine for the GOP and
findings of probable cause by the Florida
Elections Commission (FEC) against the PACs
involved and dark money PAC administrator
(and School Board member) Eric Robinson.
With fines that are 50% or less than the illegal
donation, political financiers may consider the
penalties just the cost of doing business.
Legal Reform Now was closed on October 11,
2018. It is reported that the FEC did not pursue
the complaint case against it, because they say
there is no way to penalize a PAC which no
longer exists.
