The Solution
This crisis requires a bold response, and
our national movement reimagines how
K-12 students in the United States learn
news literacy concepts and practical skills.
When we remove barriers to news literacy education
— such as a lack of agreed-upon standards or policies
that require teaching news literacy — we can give
students the tools, knowledge and mindset to think
critically about news and seek out credible sources
and information. Ultimately, they will be equipped to
push back against disinformation, become civically
engaged and be better able to make informed
decisions that impact all aspects of their lives.
Our Impact
Our Goals
by June 2028
3.4 million
students
5,000
districts
24,000
educators
have been
taught news
literacy using
NLP resources.
each year use
NLP resources
to teach news
literacy.
each year
engage with
NLP resources
and programs.
To achieve our vision of
ensuring all students are
skilled in news literacy by high
school graduation, we have
set direct impact targets as
indicators of our progress.
The value of our work is illustrated by the bipartisan support it garners:
“[NLP is doing] great work
... building new tools to
help people separate fact
from 昀椀ction.”
“[NLP is] dedicated to
making students smart,
active consumers of
news and information.”
