In Germany, we regularly attend inclusive
recruiting fairs aimed at LGBTQ+ candidates,
most recently the Rainbow Days at the University
of Frankfurt.
In the UK, our graduate recruitment team has
focused on outreach and widening access to
the profession for more than a decade. In the
2022/2023 recruitment season, we recruited
students from a wide range of backgrounds:

In collaboration with the Graduate Recruitment
team, the Race and Ethnicity at Hogan Lovells
network (REAHL) created REAHL Open Days,
recruiting events that target Black university
students in the UK. In the 2022/2023 recruiting
season, the events hosted almost 100 students
to give them an insight into life at Hogan
Lovells, how we work with our clients and our
commitment to DEI.
Our women counsel in Germany now have their
own forum, the Counsel Roundtable, to build
relationships with their peers, get concrete advice
from board-level management and receive
leadership training. The Leadership Masterclass
for women counsel consists of eight units covering
different skills that make a successful leader,
conducted by an internationally recognized trainer
and coach.
We supported a cohort of racially and ethnically
diverse and LGBTQ+ lawyers from across the
EMEA region to attend the Allverse conference in
Washington, D.C. in September 2023. This is the
third Allverse conference which brought U.S-based
underrepresented lawyers, firm leadership, and
clients to engage on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
issues at the forefront of the legal industry under the
theme “Uniting Changemakers for Collective Action.”
Over 230 attendees came together to examine the
importance of intentionality and explored strategies
for optimizing our personal agency to cultivate a
future rooted in equity, inclusivity, and justice.
In the UK, our innovative work with Flair to advance
racial equity at the firm was recognised by Business
in the Community who profiled our work in a case
study in their 2023 Race at Work Charter survey
report (page 8).
