MEAT THE FUTURE
Responsibility means genuine action throughout the value chain
and continuous improvements. As a significant food company
in the Nordics, we pave the way for more responsible food production.
AIMING FOR CARBON-NEUTRAL FOOD PRODUCTION IN 2040
We aim to achieve carbon neutrality throughout the farm-to-consumer value chain by the end of 2040 at the
latest. We do climate work in all our home market areas in Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
At our Danish plants we have already come a long way. Our productions runs on
100% green energy and we have installed energy-efficient heat pumps.
Achieving the targets requires both a significant reduction of emissions and an increase in carbon sinks
together with contract farmers and other partners. We lead the work in line with our own Zero Carbon
climate plan.
The Zero Carbon climate plan shows the stepping stones for HKScan to achieve carbon neutrality as a major
company. The identification of emission sources directs measures to activities with the greatest climate
impact.
RESPONSIBLE SOY
We take our responsibility as a leading Nordic food company very seriously. Our ethical and environmental
responsibility drives us to optimize our value chain when it comes to both food products and animal feed.
Soy is an important source of protein in our chicken feed, and as members of the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) as well as The Danish Alliance for Sustainable Soy, we have high ambitions when
it comes to soy production.
Soy is one of the biggest crops in the world, and our steps towards a more sustainable production is a key
focus point in our climate plan as we aim for 100% sustainable soy use by the year 2025.
RECYCLABLE PACKAGING
As a major food company, we know that what we do makes an impact. With an ambitious plan to have 100%
recyclable packaging by 2025 at the latest, we are responding to consumers’ need to make grocery shopping an innate part of protecting the climate.
MEAT THE FUTURE
Chicken is one of the most sustainable meat choices. According to the Danish Climate Database, CONCITO,
the carbon footprint of chicken is up to 85% lower than beef.
Some people view these sustainable choices as a trend, but we don’t. We believe the consumers’ need for
sustainable food products will only grow, as they become more aware of their climate responsibility.
Accomodating these needs and constantly striving for more sustainability is what makes ROSE Poultry the
meat of the future!
