EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In addition to our environmental focus we also focus our efforts on the ‘S’ and ‘G’
of ESG: Social and Governance. While the world moves ahead with this important
transition, it is important that we ensure continuous supply of energies to those
who need them and that we transition in a way that ensures a strong and growing
economy for those for whom production of the outgoing energy sources is their
main source of wealth. We must also continue to conduct business in a way
that ensures high standards relating to human rights for those in less developed
economies and in a way that promotes fair and good governance.
Responsibility and sustainability are at the core of our culture and our strategy
and as an organization we have our part to play in both. We strive to promote
transparency and standardization in our markets and to contribute positively
to the communities and to society where we operate around the globe. We
source commodities responsibly and are proud to be members of many industry
associations around the world which promote these high standards. As a Swiss
company we are very pleased with the work that the Swiss government has done
over the recent years to promote high standards in our sector.
We are very proud of our exemplary health, safety and environmental performance
this year and maintaining these high standards are the focus of all of our people.
The strength of our organization and our performance lies in the strong compliance
culture and high ethical standards that we, the management team, demand
throughout the organization. These standards are set from the top and are a
source of pride for all of our people around the world.
We will continue to update you on the work that we do and how we perform in all
of our activities around the globe and we welcome the opportunity to continue to
work with our many stakeholders on how we can maintain our high standards and
to identify further enhancements that we can make, we will not be complacent but
instead will continue to review our activities and performance critically to ensure
we continue to operate at our best!
