The Stagecoach moves on
The weekend served to trim the Open Butler field
from 74 pairs to 20.
(The list of qualifiers is on page 2)
Those pairs will play ten 12-board matches over
Monday and Tuesday to halve the field to 10 elite
pairs for Stage 3 on Wednesday and Thursday
While that's happening, the first stage of the
Mixed Butler will be run as a Swiss of ten
12-matches to chop that field to 10 pairs for their
Stage 2.
Murray with the Restricted Butler winners
In parallel with these events, Paul Lavings
Bridge Supplies is sponsoring a couple of
two-day Butler events.
Lapsed members
David Fryda – Orange resident and ABF Executive director – reminded us that the number of
registered players in Australia has dropped by
over 5000 from the pre-Covid peak.
Clubs and players are exhorted to reach out to
these people, to bring them back into the fold.
Some have given up face-to-face, only playing
online.
