Completed the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan.
Achieved PLATINUM status for transparency on Guidestar, the premier
destination for nonprofits and nonprofit research.
Featured in Austrian article, Journey into the interior of America Two Bells of
Freedom by Thomas Götz.
Featured in WHRO video, produced by Lisa Godley to track the progress of the
work of the Foundation.
Presented HHTIUT documentary and hosted more than 35 participants of the
University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, a development
program designed for residents of Virginia already engaged in the political, civic,
business, nonprofit or governing life of their locality, region or the
Commonwealth.
Represented the descendants in a series of meetings with Colonial Williamsburg
Foundation (CWF) archaeologists to understand and communicate the
information on the number and types of artifacts discovered during Phases I and
II of the archaeological dig on Nassau Street.
Represented the Foundation in Washington DC with Visit Williamsburg to share
information with major media contacts, completing interviews on WIN-TV.
Unveiled the 62 grave markers on Nassau Street to honor the ancestors.
Worked with CW to develop and present the official name (African American
Baptist Meeting House and Burial Ground) of the historic site on Nassau Street.
Recommitted the remains of the three congregants that were exhumed in 2024
and placed them in the original burial plots.
Applied for a $300K grant to fund full-time executive level position in 2025.
Completed Phase I of the concept design for all eight re-imagined exhibit spaces
on Scotland Street to be completed in August 2026.
Received $10K support from Dominion Power to support security work at the First
Baptist Church, Scotland Street.
Completed 75% of the update of the History of First Baptist, authored by Dr.
Cassandra Newby-Alexander, the Endowed Professor of Virginia Black History and
Culture and emeritus director of the Joseph Jenkins Roberts Center for African
Diaspora Studies at Norfolk State University.
Represented LFRF on the City of Williamsburg’s African American Heritage Trail
Advisory Board, which will be completed in 2026.
