● Visit Port Sunlight, built by the Lever Brothers to
accommodate workers
Our day begins in Chester where you will have free time to
explore. This charming city is rich in heritage with historic
sights such as the Roman Walls and Amphitheatre.
Wander around the famous ‘Rows’ housing shops, cafes
and restaurants behind the black and white timbered
façades. In the afternoon we will visit Port Sunlight, a
village built by the ‘Soap King’ William Lever to
accommodate workers at Lever’s Sunlight Soap factory.
We enjoy a guided tour of the village by coach as well as
visiting the fascinating museum and step back in time with
a visit to an Edwardian worker’s cottage.
Anderton Boat Lift & Nantwich

Our 昀椀rst stop today is the Anderton Boat Lift, a triumph of
Victorian engineering known as one of the ‘Seven Wonders
of the Waterways’. Explore the fascinating visitor centre
and you will have the opportunity to experience a
downwards journey in the boat lift from the Trent & Mersey
Canal to the River Weaver followed by a river cruise. This
afternoon we head to Nantwich, a charming historical
market town in Cheshire, with quaint black and white
timber-framed buildings, town square and wide range of
speciality shops.
