AFFILIATED OR ENDORSED ERG STRUCTURE AND
LEADERSHIP
ERG officers, elected by the voting membership, will form the executive
committee. The following officer positions are required:
1. ERG President: Responsible for overseeing chapter operations,
communicating LIT policies, and representing the ERG publicly.
2. Vice President: Assists the President and assumes leadership in their absence.
3. Secretary: Manages meeting records, correspondence, and communications.
4. Treasurer: Handles financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
Meetings
ERG meetings should be held regularly and in accessible locations or virtually.
Best practices for meeting management include:
Limiting meetings to 45-60 minutes.
Providing printed or digital minutes.
Establishing a consistent meeting schedule.
Distributing meeting notices at least one week in advance.
Maintaining a sign-in sheet and tracking attendance.
Member Growth and Retention
ERG groups should aim to involve all agency employees, regardless of
background, as long as they support Latino culture and heritage values. Establish
a membership committee to recruit and retain members.
Sample Membership Drive Plan:
1. Set recruitment goals.
2. Identify target markets.
3. Develop a contact list of potential members.
4. Send introductory materials and invitations for further engagement.
Fundraising and Scholarship Contributions
If allowed by their agency, ERG groups must follow guidelines for raising funds to
support their programming and contribute to the LIT National Scholarship Fund.
Fundraising Guidelines: If allowed by agency, participate in one LIT organized
fundraising activity per year dedicated to generating scholarship funds, with a
minimum donation of $500 by the ERG by May 1 each year.
The ERG group that raises the most for the scholarship fund will receive
special recognition and be featured in LIT ERG promotional materials for the
following year.
ERG groups will be allowed to fundraise under the LIT 501c3 status.
