After herhusband’s untimely death she embarked on a hectic career in localpolitics and was elected to Huntingdonshire District Council for St IvesSouth in 1983. Pree was Planning chairman for six years and chairmanof the Council from 1998 to 2000.She also served on the Town Council for 8 years and was Mayor in1991-92. Her other voluntary work included the HuntingdonshireRegional College where she was chairman of the governing board for18 years. She has also been a trustee of RELATE (a marriage guidanceservice) since 1983.When other duties allow, Pree enjoys playing bridge. She has 2 sons and5 grandchildren.Page 51
