Waechter was charged with a felony and
misdemeanor. He pled guilty to both, and
adjudication was withheld on the felony.
Waechter served as Sarasota GOP Chair from
2004 - 2006. At his sentencing Waechter said
“Politics can be a contentious and sometimes
bruising exercise, but it should be truth-based
and need not be, nor should it be,
underhanded.”
