has said the readings were “always for fun”.
Ramirez was asked who she thought was
responsible for the attack mailers. She said
she believed it’s the region’s biggest
developers.
“In Sarasota, a small group of people pull the
strings,” she said. “They want to control our
government. If you threaten their livelihood,
they will go after you.”
Ramirez was also targeted by former Sarasota
GOP chair Bob Waechter in 2012, when he was
captured on video in a local Publix stealing her
identity. Waechter bought a debit card in
Ramirez’s name, and made donations to
Democrats with it. The scheme was
discovered by Ramirez when Democratic
Congressional candidate Keith Fitzgerald sent
her a thank you for her donation.
