CRH Canada drives innovation and empowerment
E
leonor Baldeo doesn’t
need a crystal ball to
see the future. She
gets a front row seat
to it working at CRH
Canada. As a quality assurance
specialist at Dufferin Concrete,
CRH Canada’s ready-mix concrete
division, Baldeo goes over project
drawings and specifications with
clients to help ensure they’re
building tomorrow’s cities the best
way possible. She says that in her
time there, the company has done
the same thing for her career.
“Earlier, I jumped from company to company, one job to the next,
because I wasn’t being me — I
wasn’t happy,” says Baldeo.
“But at CRH Canada, my
managers trusted me and gave me
the resources and unparalleled
support I needed to be a better
version of me. They put me where
I am today — they’re my second
family.”
CRH Canada is the leading
provider of building materials and
construction services in the country. Headquartered in Vaughan,
Ont., its over 2,000 employees
provide the services and expertise
to build critical infrastructure
across Canada.
Baldeo’s job puts her on the
ground floor of many projects
before a shovel hits the dirt.
Reviewing the blueprints is a
thrill, but seeing the completed
product fills her with a sense
of pride, knowing she is part of
something bigger.
“I can tell people I was a part
of that project before the world
knew about it,” she says. “It feels
great to be with a company that
gives back to the community and
is thinking of future generations in
an ever-changing environment. It’s
challenging and rewarding.”
The foundation for career successes like Baldeo has experienced
is in giving employees the freedom
to tackle the challenges they face
in a safe, collaborative corporate
culture, says Emma Schindler, vice
president, business intelligence,
solutions, transportation and
logistics.
“We empower people to have a

meaningful impact while supporting their growth and helping them
to find purpose in their lives every
day — that’s really important for
our employees,” she says.
“We make sure people have the
autonomy to be able to pursue
the things that they’re passionate
about.”
“We’ve created a workplace
where employees not only
thrive professionally, but
also find real purpose.”

Schindler says CRH Canada
puts people first by prioritizing
employee career development,
education, and health and safety
in a comprehensive manner. In
addition to its extensive safety
training programs, the company provides employer-paid
pension contributions and group
insurance protections inclusive
of mental health benefits and
actively encourages conversations
with employees who need extra
support.
The company promotes worklife balance in providing hybrid
work models for several roles in
the organization. Baldeo loves
having the option to work from
home, but also looks forward
to days in the office where she
can connect in person with her
colleagues.
“Every single day, there’s always
new things going on,” she says.
