Goals
1. Support ERG Formation and Development:
Provide resources and guidance for public transportation agencies to start
and grow Latino-focused ERGs within their organizations.
Help ERGs create their mission, vision, bylaws, and strategic plans that
align with the goals of Latinos In Transit.
2. Promote Professional Growth and Leadership:
Offer mentorship, networking, and career development opportunities to
ERG members, fostering leadership growth within transportation agencies.
Encourage participation in national LIT programming, including the
Leadership Summit and other professional development events.
3. Foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
Ensure ERGs promote an inclusive workplace that values Latino culture,
heritage, and the broader principles of diversity and equity.
Support agencies in building environments where Latino employees and
their allies can thrive.
4. Ensure Financial Sustainability:
Guide ERGs in developing fundraising strategies and securing financial
resources to sustain their programs and contribute to broader LIT
initiatives.
Encourage each ERG to make annual contributions to the LIT scholarship
fund, fostering support for future transportation leaders.
5. Align ERGs with Latinos In Transit’s Mission:
Establish a network of ERGs across agencies that are endorsed or affiliated
with Latinos In Transit, ensuring consistency with LIT’s mission and goals.
Promote collaboration between ERGs and Latinos In Transit to address
industry-wide challenges and opportunities related to workforce diversity
and advancement.
6. Compliance and Accountability:
Help ERGs meet all legal and organizational requirements, including
adhering to bylaws and submitting annual reports.
Establish clear guidelines for ERG operations, including financial
management, program execution, and communication with Latinos In
Transit’s national office.
7. Create a Platform for Community Engagement:
Encourage ERGs to engage in community outreach, scholarship
fundraising, and cultural promotion within their agencies and
communities.
Empower ERG members to become ambassadors for Latinos In Transit’s
mission and values both within their agencies and beyond.
The overall aim of the Latinos In Transit ERG program is to create a supportive,
sustainable, and growth-oriented environment for Latino professionals in
transportation, enabling them to lead and inspire within their agencies while
promoting the broader goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
