Lads and lassies, step right up, spin the Wheel of Virtue and find out
what virtues are and who needs them. We’ll do a little “character
education” to see which virtues our characters have and which ones
they might need. Your class will spin the wheel to decide what stories
we tell. Meet the famous and not-so-famous, the real and not-so-real,
the good and not-so-good, as we learn what Virtue Reality is all about.

CINDERELLA AND THE ORCHESTRA

Dressed for a royal masquerade ball, Cinderella plays her flute
with the palace orchestra, conducted by the talented prince. After,
Cinderella vanishes hastily, leaving behind her precious flute. The
following morning, the prince begins his desperate search to find
the extraordinary flutist. Join us for this never-before-told story with
the enchanting music of “The Birds” by Italian composer Ottorino
Respighi performed by Palm Beach Symphony and Music Director,
Gerard Schwarz.

Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while The
Runaway Bunny’s pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring
responses from his loving mum. Both stories feature endearing rabbit
characters and the soothing rhythms of bunny banter and dream-like
imagery. These beloved tales never fail to infuse young readers with
a reassuring sense of security. Mermaid’s staged adaptation brings
a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several
generations.

Charlotte Blake Alston is a nationally acclaimed storyteller, narrator,
instrumentalist, librettist and singer committed to the preservation of
African and African American oral storytelling traditions. Her stories
include folktales, historical stories and songs that highlight the richness
of those traditions. This program of stories and songs is geared
specifically for the youngest of story listeners. All stories and songs
include lots of audience participation. Come ready to clap, sing and
help tell the stories!
