APPRENTICES
We had a catch-up with Bricklayer Apprentice Oliver
Thomas, who has been part of #teamPhoenix for almost
1 year now. Oliver has shown great work and our site
teams have been very impressed with his progress.
How are you getting on with your apprenticeship
and what do you enjoy most?
I believe I’m getting on really well and progressing my
knowledge at a steady pace I feel like I’ve fitted in nicely
with everybody. I enjoy the daily challenges and
overcoming problems.
Why did you pick brickwork?
I choose bricklaying because it will be give a lifelong
career and also have a genuine interest in bricklaying, I
enjoy working outside and the physical demand for the
job.
What do you see as your career progression after
you have qualified?
Eventually I would like to run my own gang, I like the
thought of working as a team getting the job done.
Have you learnt anything about the construction
industry or bricklaying that has surprised you?
The thing that surprised me most in the construction
industry is when you turn up to a job and there’s nothing
there then 6 months later it’s completed, jobs get done
very quick.
We welcomed bricklayer
apprentice Thomas Griffiths
to the #teamPhoenix family
and we are excited to share
his progress!
Thomas enjoyed his first
day at college and has
been working and learning
alongside Site Manager
Keith Shipley at Kirkby
Leisure Centre.
Keep up the great work
Thomas!
