6.5 CONCLUSION
Ensuring gender equality in HR practices is crucial for promoting fairness, diversity, and inclusion within
organizations (García et al., 2023). It ensures that both men and women have equal opportunities, rights, and
responsibilities in the workplace (Benslimane & Moustaghfir, 2020). Implementing gender equality in HR
practices requires proactive measures such as promoting equal career opportunities, addressing work-family
integration, and creating a supportive organizational culture (García et al., 2023). Several countries are showing
progress in gender equality not only through their organizational policies but also with the help of government
legislation, regulatory frameworks, and individuals who believe in the cause (Winchester and Browning, 2015).
This chapter explores the critical role of Human Resources Management in promoting gender diversity and
equality within organizations, focusing on corporate boardrooms. It addresses key HRM areas such as
recruitment, performance management, career development, training, and mentoring to rectify gender-based
disparities. The importance of equal opportunities for women in recruitment, the impact of training programs
on gender equality, and the need for organizations to review job descriptions and update selection criteria are
highlighted. The chapter emphasizes the significance of removing social and cultural norms that perpetuate
gender inequality and the benefits of formal mentorship programs for women in career advancement.
Additionally, it suggests conducting pay equity analysis and implementing corrective measures to promote
gender equality in the workplace.
