Welcome to the latest edition of “Enhance”
South Africans have just successfully and peacefully
navigated through what is arguably the most critical
National Elections ever held since the birth of our
democracy 30 years ago. Not only have the results
yielded an orderly end to the ANC’s total grip on power,
which for decades citizens imagined would result in
anarchy and chaos, but even more astonishing is that we
now have a Government of National Unity in power
representing peace loving South Africans that embraces
democracy, our constitution, non-racialism and a better
life for all.
Estate agents have an unfortunate reputation of
mischievously “talking up the market” in order to procure
sales but in this instance, right now, it9s diïcult to call
them out.
The facts are that the peaceful elections with a
reconstituted democratic Government combined with an
ease in innation pressures as is currently being
experienced, will trigger interest rate cuts soon and
these are the absolute best conditions to spur a higher
demand for property ownership. What is also factual is
that when demand rises, home prices rise reciprocally.
This may be great news for sellers and perhaps anxious
times for buyers.
The good news for buyers right now though, is that it
does take a few months for the higher demand vs higher
price trend to be entrenched and therefore, without
“talking up the market,” now would be the ideal time to
purchase a new home.
