Canadian Women's Foundation Annual Report 2023-2024 - Report - Page 4
DEAR FRIENDS AND
SUPPORTERS,
You’ve got what it takes. And you’re the top
reason I’m thrilled to be leading this incredible
organization.
What I’ve learned over the last 30 years
of working in nonprofits, business, and
government is that creating social change
requires a dynamic, engaged, and diverse
community.
You ARE that community, and you can prove it.
Between April 2023 and March 2024, you
impacted more than a million lives. You funded
more than 750 programs for women, girls, and
gender-diverse people in communities facing
multiple barriers in every province and territory.
Hundreds of you amplified calls for policy and
systemic change to ensure women, girls, and
gender-diverse people gain the power, rights,
safety, and support they need to thrive.
You make the Canadian Women’s Foundation
the powerhouse it is. It’s an honour and
privilege to count myself into this awardwinning organization that is an essential voice
for gender justice and equality.
Your energy, commitment, and support
matters more than ever as we consider how
we’ll get to the next level. We must anticipate
the impacts of many contemporary shifts:
climate change, economic instability and
inflation, different charitable giving, gendered
unsafety, as well as the unknowns of rapid
technological change and artificial intelligence
in our lives, to name a few.
If that feels daunting, I want to share something
I’ve learned from my journey. When I’m on
the precipice of a new challenge, I ask myself,
“What’s stopping you?” I weigh the goal against
my fears. And then I feel empowered to take
bigger, bolder leaps.
As I visualize our growing community of 71,000+
people (which is enough to fill arenas at many
Professional Women’s Hockey League games),
