COUNT ME IN TO
MEET URGENT
COMMUNITY NEEDS
In our current context of challenge and change,
grassroots organizations doing gender equality
and justice work are going above and beyond to
serve their communities.
As individuals, families, and communities
throughout Canada deal with climate events,
economic downturns and inflation, as well as
lasting pandemic impacts, the need for services
has increased. Organizations are working hard to
support the marginalized groups most in need,
while also managing increased operating costs,
staff burnout, and turnover.
Your support enables us to offer short-term
funding to help smaller organizations bridge
these gaps, meet core operating expenses, and
respond to immediate needs.
How can you best support
urgent and emerging
community needs?
•
Donate monthly, which offers
sustained funding to critical
community programs.
•
Make a general donation, rather
than designating it to a specific area
of impact. That allows us to direct
your gift toward the highest priority
needs and areas.
Recently funded organizations include:
Chroma: Pride, Inclusion, Equality supports
people in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in
Saint John, New Brunswick. Funding from the
Foundation supported the hire of core staff
which allowed the organization to deepen its
community impact.
“We were able to grow our educational outreach
to allied community members and provide more
support for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth during the school
year. We connected with more partners in our
region and built our fundraising capacity ... We
appreciate the support of this important work
in a climate where there is increased anti-queer
and anti-trans violence, and the rights of queer
and trans folks are being stripped back.”
– Alex Ash, Executive Director, Chroma
Chroma takes part in a local Pride parade.
Anova, London, Ontario, offers services to
survivors of gender-based violence, including
sexual assault. The organization anticipated it
would receive more service requests related
to high-profile sexual assault cases going through local courts. A Foundation grant is going toward
sustaining sexual assault counselling staff to help meet demand and reduce lengthy wait times for
people seeking services.
