Top BIPA Class Action Settlements In 2022
In BIPA-related class actions, 2022 saw robust settlements. The top ten BIPA class action
settlements totaled $278.9 million.
1. $100 million – Rivera, et al. v. Google LLC, Case No. 2019-CH-00990 (Ill. Cir. Ct.
Sept. 28, 2022) (final settlement approval granted in a class action alleging violation of
the BIPA).
2. $92 million – In Re Tiktok Inc. Consumer Privacy Litigation, Case No. 20-CV-4699
(N.D. Ill. Aug. 22, 2022) (final settlement approval granted in a class action alleging
violation of the BIPA).
3. $35 million – Boone, et al. v. Snap Inc., Case No. 2022-LA-000708 (Ill. Cir. Ct. Nov.
17, 2022) (final settlement approval granted in a class action alleging violation of the
BIPA).
