The Youth Impact Summit in
Vancouver, where the Canadian
Women’s Foundation’s Youth
Advisory Committee and IndigeHealth Hub members gathered in
March 2024. The Indige-Health Hub
connects Indigenous youth from
across the country to talk about
healthy relationship skills.
Building the Field of Teen Healthy
Relationships
Through this unique national initiative funded by
Public Health Agency of Canada, we strengthen
local programs that help young people build
healthy relationship skills and aim to break the
cycle of gender-based violence. We bring healthy
relationship program staff together with young
people, academics, policy-makers, and funders
to share what works and address contemporary
challenges.
“Excellent communication, negotiation,
and conflict resolution are among the top
business leadership skills, which are also
healthy relationship skills.”
In the latest phase of this initiative, we’ve
convened leaders who are members of the IndigeHealth Hub working with First Nations, Métis, and
Inuit young people, as well leaders working with
young people in Québec and Atlantic Canada.

Program spotlight: Dream Cuisines
Food Business Program, Flavours of
Hope, Vancouver, British Columbia
Dream Cuisines supports newcomer women
to launch food businesses and build on their
leadership skills in the process. Diverse women
leaders are under-represented in the food and
restaurant industry, says Trixie Ling, Executive
Director at Flavours of Hope. The program
offers a platform for women to be their own
bosses, work collaboratively to lift each other
up, and become role models in their families and
communities.
“Many of my friends tell me that I have inspired
them and see me as a role model having a
positive impact in the community. I am sharing
what I am learning and people ask me how I do it.
That makes me feel proud.”
