Healthy Manatee gathered $181,100 in
contributions, and was criticized because most
donors were from the healthcare arena. That
criticism was possible because their donations
were reported before the election.
Tom Nolan served as a consultant for Healthy
Manatee, the group supporting the tax. Nolan
said after the election of the opposition ”They
raised almost $130,000, and you can't tell me
who paid for it," Nolan said. "Yet they were
attacking us because we took money from the
hospitals."
