Margot Beedie and daughter Lindsay
opened the L’bidi Gallery in the
Broadway in 1985. It is an interesting
combination of working studio, picture
gallery, craft shop and framing
workshop.
The upstairs Gallery shows a selection
of work by well-known artists mainly
from the East Anglia region reflecting a
variety of technique and style. One-man
exhibitions are held three times a year.
Lindsay is a silk textile designer. Here
she hangs a picture for the 2001
summer exhibition by Richard Bolton,
the renowned St Ives artist.

On the editorial side, Julian and Ann are responsible
for news stories in Huntingdon, St Ives and Ramsey.
Julian has doggedly reported on former MP John
Major’s triumphs and disappointments over the last
20 years, and covered all the big stories from the
Cruise missile protests at Molesworth to the presentday animal rights disturbances at Huntingdon Life
Sciences. Outside of work Julian is a Land Rover
enthusiast, a keen fisherman and enjoys cycling.
Ann used to combine part-time journalism with
voluntary work in Cambridge co-ordinating visiting
schemes for elderly people. She moved to the St Ives
office in the early 1990s and for 3 years lived on a
narrow boat with her husband and younger son. She
has been safely back on dry land since 1994.
