The Northern Birthwork Collective offers
Indigenous doula training to increase doula
capacity in the region, revitalize traditional
birth practices, and ultimately increase
access to holistic, culturally-sensitive birthing
services.
Girls in the Akpaliapik Program build
confidence and cultural connection through
a variety of activities, including making mikku
(dried caribou, above) and outdoor activities
(below).
“The Northern Birthwork Collective provided
incredible support when we were required to
travel for the birth of our first child. ... Having
a doula to support us during a difficult and
unexpected birth made all the difference for
our new family.”
