Biennial Report for Board Members - Flipbook - Page 32
As we gear up for the 250th anniversary of the Historic
First Baptist Church, we will be extremely busy over the
next two years. Our grant funding has been received
and the project to re-imagine the First Baptist Church
Heritage Center will be in the final stages and
scheduled to unveil in late 2025. We will complete the
research and develop written and historically accurate
narratives for the display cases. A design team will use
those ideas to create exhibits to improve the visitor
experience.

2025
The Foundation will continue to serve
on the City of Williamsburg9s African
American
Heritage
Trail
(AAHT)
Advisory Board and will work with
alongside
community
partners
to
capture and tell the important stories of
the community that will be shown all
along the trail, once completed. The
Historic First Baptist Church has two
locations (Stops 2 and 9) on the AAHT
and will educate and inform visitors on
the 18th-21st century experiences of its
members
and
their
important
contributions to the American story in
the Greater Williamsburg area. We will
accelerate
our
efforts
to
collect,
inventory and share the church9s artifacts. The inventory and database will be completed and
shared on the Foundation9s website for the general public to study and review.
