This bakery is a worker co-operative owned
by a group of member-owners and employees
who have a voice in decision-making. It offers a
supportive work environment for people from
marginalized communities and leads important

“Our hope is to be able to continue offering this
shopping option to more Calgarians and save
more items from going into landfills and help
protect the environment for many years to come.”

WINS expanded its bulk thrift store with
Canadian Women’s Foundation funding and
doubled its sales from 500 items a day to 1,000

of thrift stores goes to community programs that
help people overcome barriers to employment,
housing, and other basic needs.
