North of China. Tropic of Cancer is an approximation.
“After these, the course turns toward the
east again, and sailing with the ocean to
the right and the shore remaining beyond
to the left, Ganges comes into view, and
near it the very last land toward the east”
“After this region under
the very north (likely
Tropic of Cancer), the
sea outside ending in a
land called This.” [China]

“And just opposite this river there is an
island in the ocean...”
(What island is East of the Ganges?
Not a peninsula but an island.
The Philippines in their mindset.)
Tyre
“...the last part of the
inhabited world toward
the east, under the
rising sun itself...”
NOTE: The Periplus author explored the coast of India to the Ganges
and did not find Chryse there but describes it further East. He did
journey beyond the Ganges and never calls Chryse a peninsula but
an island thus the Malay Peninsula is erroneous.

NOTE: First century maps often render the Ganges
in Indochina emptying into the South China Sea. This
is because they do not draw Malaysia nor Indochina
typically and confuse the area. Argyre is usually located
right near the mouth of their drawing of the Ganges which
is the South China Sea not the Indian Ocean.
