JCC Winter Program Guide - Flipbook - Page 3
Message from the
President/CEO
Dear Friends,
It feels especially gratifying to be welcoming in the spring after a colder and tougher
winter than we’ve experienced in recent memory.
A few years back, while in lockdown due to the COVID pandemic, I started cultivating
a small, raised bed vegetable garden in my backyard. At this time of year, I start
thinking about what vegetables, herbs, and flowers I want to grow, and picking up
seed packets to plant in starter soil. Patience doesn’t come easily to me, and so it
is especially meaningful – and a little bit magical – when the green shoots start to
emerge. In an age where we’re so used to instant gratification – we can order a
package from Amazon and receive it the next day or sooner, or think of a question
and immediately find hundreds of answers online – there's something extra
special about having to wait for a period of time to see your hard work pay off.
This spring at the JCC I'm looking forward to experiencing that same feeling in many
different and exciting ways. We’ll soon be celebrating our oldest preschoolers as they
graduate from our Early Learning Centers in Newton, Sharon, and Hingham; hearing
from our Jewish Story Lab teens who have spent the last six months researching and
writing about their family histories and Jewish identities; and last but certainly not
least, enjoying and connecting with one another over fresh and delicious food in our
newly renovated JCafé. These are just a few of the milestone events and moments that
will undoubtedly feel that much sweeter knowing how hard so many individuals,
families, and staff members in our community worked to get us to this point.
When you read through this program guide, you’ll see there’s so much to look forward
to this season at the JCC. Events, programs, classes, and community experiences that
provide opportunities for us to learn, grow, and connect with one another in fun and
meaningful ways. Whether you’re interested in setting new goals around personal
fitness, learning something new in a supportive environment, or finding different ways
to spend time with family and friends, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy.
I can’t wait to celebrate all the goodness this season will bring together at the JCC.
I look forward to seeing you in the building soon!
Sincerely,
Lily Rabinoff-Goldman
