Q2|2021
A Message from our
President & CEO
Chuck Goodrich
For those of you have been avid readers of our quarterly publication, The Conduit, you will remember that opened our
Q1 edition with, “This year of 2021 is going to be ____.” Now five months into 2021, I can make the proclamation that
2021 has been just as we planned for it to be – awesome!
I am happy to report that the four critical aspects for success we decided to put intentional focus on [HUSTLE,
TALENT, GRIT, AND EXECUTION] have proven to be just what we needed to keep our teams flexible and ready to
take on every challenge. We all know the importance of “starting strong” on every project. To help establish this
principle, for the months of January – March my communications to the company concentrated on EXECUTION.In
April, I began to transfer into looking more at critical aspect for success - TALENT.
EXECUTION is one of our four key FOCUS points to assure delivery on our Gaylor Electric RELIABLES. For all of us
at Gaylor Electric, this is a daily endeavor, each day determined to make progress on delivering on our goal of being
the highest performing national contractor of excellence. I thought I would share a few of key points on EXECUTION
that we shared during the first few months.
Here is an important detail to remember about EXECUTION: Complexity is the enemy of execution! The more we
can break down the complexity and simplify the plans, goals, and tasks, the greater the likelihood of delivering an ontime, on-budget project. I learned a principle years ago that applies in every endeavor of life: SIB-KIS which stands
for See It Big-Keep It Simple. Each task involved in our work is important. Becoming proficient and gaining
effectiveness in doing those tasks can be amplified when we invest the time in learning the most efficient way of
doing them.
At Gaylor Electric we have continued to grow because we have continued to improve in our EXECUTION. We
continue to “stretch” ourselves to take the complex and make it simple. Repetition of right practice results in improved
EXECUTION.
EXECUTION is a limitless topic to explore. There is always, and I mean, always, something we can learn to sharpen
and improve our ability to deliver on being the highest performing national contractor of excellence. All growth
depends on activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work.
Take a moment and consider this quote from English scholar and minister, Robert Hall [1764-1831], “Hard work
without talent is a shame, but talent without hard work is a tragedy!” The combination of “talent coupled with hard
[focused] work” has been recognized as being the key to being the best and remaining the best.
At both our projects and in our departments, the daily goal is to make [substantial] progress toward completion. This is
accomplished by utilizing our developed talents coupled with focused work! As we continue to build a stronger
organization, let’s always remember that, “The road to success is always under construction.” Thanks for bringing
your best efforts each and every day.
Now you are caught up on our year. We look forward as the adventure of 2021 continues. We have the right plans,
right attitude, right people on board, and the right clients to continue to grow!
Thanks’ for your continued interest and support of Gaylor Electric…the world’s BEST place to work!
Stay safe and take care of each other.
