individuals aged 75 and over lives with sight loss, while one

These factors are considered within detailed future costs.”
It’s important that, when required, as experts, our
opinions provide a range of options with reasoning,
as emphasized by Cresswell J: “An expert witness
should state the facts or assumptions upon which his
opinion is based.”
In my expert opinion, client Z requires:
• Additional Equipment
• Practical Support
• Emotional Assistance and help with Mood Management
• Safe Mobility to reduce falls risk.
• Exercises to help reduce X deformity
• Support when Travelling
Flexibility is key.
Our experts are willing to listen or review their
opinions when appropriate. We adapt to new evidence and continually improve through reflective
practice. They answer the questions posed, as opposed
to questions not asked for and seek clarification when
needed. They maintain composure under cross-examination.
Further details, opinion and costs are listed in sections X, Y
and Z within my report”.
An example of this would be following a Joint Expert
Vocational Meeting:
“Despite a potential disadvantage with having left knee pain
or a large hernia, we both agree that client Z, still has
employment opportunities.
Or the reason for an expert opinion is given as
illustrated here:
“Given the medically anticipated likelihood of client Z’s vision
worsening by of an average of 27% detailed by Mr X,
Consultant Ophthalmologist, in client Z lifetime, then
additional transport, mobility adjustments, and support are
essential for encouraging outdoor ventures.
Given the NOMIS database, job role and skills research, client
Z, is skilled and does have appropriate opportunities within
local sectors requiring either employment or self-employment.”
Specifically, he may struggle with independent travel,
especially in dim or low-light conditions, and face difficulties
accessing unfamiliar or unsafe environments.
Uneven ground or dimly lit areas poses an additional risk,
and client Z has already experienced falls post-visual loss.
Given our observations on the visits dated X, the medical
opinions supplied and from our experience and knowledge of
manual occupations plus people with chronic knee pain or
arthritis, we would consider that client Z should aim to
undertake either a purely sedentary role or up to light lifting
demands within any practical or manual type occupation only.
