When did you first become interested in pursuing this occupation and why? I first discovered my love for hairstyling and
makeup when I was around 12 years old. I became the go-to
person for braiding hair for my friends on sports teams, and
later, I was known as the ‘prom hair and makeup girl’ at my
high school. These experiences ignited my passion for this
field, and I’ve been deeply interested in pursuing a career in
beauty ever since
Give details of your past - present and future plans or thoughts.
I’m focused on honing my skills and knowledge in the beauty
industry. I’ve been taking classes, following trends, and practicing different techniques to expand my expertise. Looking
ahead, I envision myself owning a few successful salons. I am
the owner of one currently. I aim to continuously learn and
grow in this field, building a reputation for excellent service
and creativity.
What is it about this job that makes you feel fulfilled? The ability to use creativity and skill to transform someone’s appearance, boost their confidence, and make them feel beautiful can
be very rewarding. Building relationships with clients and being part of their important life events, like weddings or graduations, can create a strong sense of connection and satisfaction
in this career.
Who has been your greatest mentor? High-Performance Salon Academy is a group of individuals across the country. This
group has a massive range of success, so those at the top of the
group are my mentors.
What is the best business advice anyone has ever given you?
“It’s okay to change your mind, nothing is set in stone.”
What advice do you have for anyone pursuing any type of
business idea? For anyone pursuing a business idea, it’s im-
portant to start by thoroughly researching your market and
understanding your target audience. Identify a unique selling
proposition (USP) that sets your business apart. Develop a solid business plan that outlines your goals, target market, financial projections, and marketing strategies. Be prepared to adapt
and evolve as you receive feedback and learn from your experiences. Finally, stay passionate and committed to your idea, as
building a successful business often requires perseverance and
dedication.
What is your favorite job duty to perform? The constant
change of pace in the day-to-day aspect of the business constantly keeps me on my toes.
What is the best part of your job? Building strong relation-
ships with our clients. The love we share is out of this world
that means the world
What have been your biggest obstacles? Some of the biggest obstacles for salon owners and hairstylists include managing finances effectively, attracting and retaining clients in
a competitive market, keeping up with the latest trends and
techniques, and maintaining a work-life balance. Overcoming these obstacles often requires dedication, resilience, and a
willingness to learn and adapt to change continuously.
Is there anything special you would like to share with other
women that will encourage them to be all they can be? Ab-
solutely! Here are some words of encouragement for women:
1. Believe in yourself - Have confidence in your abilities and
values. You are capable of achieving great things.
2. Embrace Challenges - Challenges are growth opportunities.
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and embrace
new challenges.
3. Support Each Other - Build a strong network of supportive
women who uplift and inspire one another. Together, you can
achieve more.
4. Prioritize Self-Care - Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Self-care is not selfish; it is essential for
your well-being.
5. Keep Learning - Never stop learning and expanding your
skills. Knowledge is power and can open up new possibilities.
6. Be Authentic - Stay true to yourself and your values. Your
uniqueness is your strength. Remember, you have the power
to create the life you want. Believe in yourself, pursue your
passions, and don’t be afraid to dream big!
